Mama never told me there'd be months like this...

Month 8? Month 9? Doesn't matter I suppose.  New kid on the block, new kid in town -  we merely crave acceptance and a feeling of being needed, like a child craves the security of a warm blanket.  When we kicked this venture off it wasn't with a grand plan in mind; it was an idea born out of necessity with no road map in hand.  I knew full well that there were live music venues in town, but none that were completely dedicated to presenting live music in all the forms that we have taken on.  We were unique as we had nothing to sell but a happening scene that is fast disappearing from the Canadian musical landscape.  We are far too naïve to understand that we are flying in the face of a national trend. And that is a good thing.

Many have tried and failed.  It's scary. Damn scary. Because it's all just so big.  The responsibility.  The scope of our dreams.  But it's also exhilarating.  When Barney Bentall steps on our stage and repeatedly comments on how much he likes our joint, and uses words like culture and community, suddenly it all seems worth it.  The hours, the expense and the worry that those seats aren't going to get filled.  Watching Barney sing next to the ever-gracious Shari Ulrich and the shy rock star himself Tom Taylor last Friday night, I'm not ashamed to tell you that tears streamed down my face.  And I'm sure I'm not the only one in the crowd who gave in to the weight of the emotion hanging in the air that night.  It was a mutual love-fest...

We did it.  We reached our first milepost. Achieved our first goal.  And boy was it a special night... For me, for my amazing partners, and for the lucky audience that were smart enough to sell this show out in three days.

Where do we go from here?  Who knows.  But one thing id for certain. We are going to continue to punch above our weight and seek out the artists that you will love to see play in our little Canadian  town.
