LONNIE GLASS - SATURDAY NOVEMBER 3rd
Somewhere between Louis Armstrong and Cookie Monster lies the voice of Lonnie Glass, a consummate entertainer from Victoria. His lyrical imagery is said to lie somewhere between Leonard Cohen and Tom Waits, and his storytelling between Bob Dylan and John Prine. He brings his talent to Ground Zero Acoustic Lounge on Saturday November 3rd 2018
Glass was born in Montreal in 1950, and lived through so many iconic moments in this century’s music: he saw Elvis Presley when he was seven years old; saw The Beatles in 1964 and 1966; was an R&B frontman in the mid-1960s, and .saw Cream, Jimi Hendrix and Led Zeppelin perform in the late ’60s.
Lonnie has been a musician since the age of 14 in 1964. And began as a singer playing R&B and Soul music in the early 1960's. In 1967 he began to play Bass in a Psychedelic Band "MICKEY RAT" and has been a Bass player ever since.
Lonnie began writing his own songs in the early 1980's as well as playing Acoustic guitar.
His 1st CD was recorded in Virginia Beach, Va. in 1991 and was distributed by MCA Records at the time.
From 1983 until 2011 Lonnie was a Co-Founder of Canada's Premier ZZTOP Tribute, Tres Hombres. They spent 27 years touring Canada, The USA, & Scandinavia performing more than 6,000 shows.
In 2010 Lonnie recorded a CD, "Chapter Of Night, An America Civil War Retrospective" which he toured throughout the Southern USA that summer.
Lonnie has had a co-writing partner, Norman Ball, since 2004, who resides in Leesburg, Virginia, together they have co-written approx. 70 tunes.
